HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 and Gen10 Plus: EOL and EOSL

The EOL of the HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 was 1 May 2024. The EOSL is 31 October 2029. No dates have been published for the Gen10 Plus yet.

The ProLiant DL360 Gen10 is the 1U sibling (one rack unit instead of two) of the DL380 and came to market in 2017. Anyone needing a lot of compute power in little rack space, for virtualisation hosts, databases or web servers, often reached for this model after its launch. HPE stopped selling the Gen10 in May 2024. The Gen10 Plus followed in 2021 and has since been withdrawn from sale as well.

HPE does not publish a continuous lifecycle table for the ProLiant range. The dates are set out in Product Change Notifications (PCN). For the DL360 Gen10, the PCN “HPE ProLiant DL360/DL380 Gen10 Servers: End Of Life (EOL) Process Dates” applies; for the Gen10 Plus, the PCN covering the DL345/DL360/DL365/DL380 Gen10 Plus servers. Both notices can only be read in full with an HPE account.

In addition, HPE sold many preconfigured standard models with a fixed configuration of processor, memory and controller. They are based on the same chassis and have the same lifecycle dates as the matching CTO model.

HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10

The DL360 Gen10 runs first and second generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (Skylake and Cascade Lake) with up to 28 cores per socket. Its 24 DIMM slots hold up to 3 TB of DDR4-2933. For expansion cards, up to three PCIe 3.0 slots remain in the 1U chassis. Like all Gen10 servers, the DL360 has the iLO 5 management chip with Silicon Root of Trust on board. HPE has since archived the QuickSpecs for the DL360 Gen10 and marked the base products as no longer available.

For the chassis you have a choice of three variants. The 8SFF chassis takes eight 2.5-inch drives and can be expanded to ten bays via the Universal Media Bay. The 4LFF chassis is built for four 3.5-inch hard disks. The premium chassis attaches up to ten NVMe SSDs directly over PCIe. All three variants are also available as Network Choice (NC) models without a permanently fitted 1GbE controller. For US government agencies, HPE also offered TAA-compliant CTO models that meet the requirements of the Trade Agreements Act.

The Gen10 range reached its end of life on 1 May 2024. New systems could still be ordered through HPE OCA until 31 October 2024. From that cut-off date, HPE sells and services support contracts for at least five more years, which puts the end of support on 31 October 2029. The same dates apply to the DL380 Gen10, because HPE discontinued both models in a single PCN.

HPE will give the binding end date for an individual device based on its serial number.

HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 Plus

The Gen10 Plus uses third generation Xeon Scalable processors (Ice Lake) with up to 40 cores per socket. Instead of 24, there are 32 DIMM slots for DDR4-3200, and PCIe 4.0 doubles the bandwidth per lane compared with the Gen10. Here the network cards sit in the open OCP 3.0 format; FlexibleLOM adapters from the Gen10 do not fit. When sourcing spare parts, you should therefore pay close attention to the generation.

HPE offered the Gen10 Plus only as a Network Choice model. Two CTO chassis are available, with 8SFF and 4LFF. A TAA-compliant version was available through option #GTA added to the respective part number.

For the Gen10 Plus, HPE has published a revised PCN with the EOL process dates. The official QuickSpecs have been archived as well; there HPE describes the base products as no longer available for sale. The specific dates for end of sales and end of support are only available in the protected area of the HPE Support Center. Until they are publicly confirmed, Hardwarewartung.com works on the basis of a maintenance period of seven to ten years after EOL.

Maintenance after the end of support from HPE

After EOSL, HPE provides no new firmware versions and no repairs through Care Packs. The performance of a DL360 Gen10 is nevertheless sufficient for domain controllers, file servers or smaller virtualisation clusters for many years yet. Replacing the hardware purely because manufacturer support is missing then costs money without operations benefiting from it.
