HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10: EOL and EOSL for all models

The EOSL date for the first models in the HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 range is 2 November 2026. More are expected to follow in 2030.

The MicroServer family of the tenth HPE ProLiant generation comprises three ranges: the MicroServer Gen10 with AMD processors from 2017, the MicroServer Gen10 Plus with Intel CPUs from 2020, and the Gen10 Plus v2 from 2022. HPE now lists all three as “Retired”. The QuickSpecs for the MicroServer Gen10, the MicroServer Gen10 Plus and the MicroServer Gen10 Plus v2 all carry the same note: the base products are considered obsolete and can no longer be ordered.

In branch offices and small offices, many of these units nevertheless keep running, for example as file servers or domain controllers. Anyone operating them needs to know when HPE will finally discontinue support.

Our overview shows, for each standard model, the HPE part number, the official EOL, the official EOSL and the period for which Hardwarewartung.com continues to maintain the servers.

How HPE calculates EOL and EOSL

HPE does not publish a dedicated list of discontinuation dates for the MicroServers. As a rule of thumb: once HPE puts a model on “Retired”, the manufacturer supports it for a further five years. After that, the end of service life begins. From that day on, HPE supplies no firmware updates and no spare parts, and Care Packs can no longer be extended. That is how our HP end of life list describes it, and it also records the maintenance periods after the EOSL. What the individual deadlines mean in practice is explained in our article EOL and EOSL: what the support deadlines really mean for your hardware.

Where HPE has not stated an exact date, this is noted in the tables. “Derived” means the date was calculated back from the known EOSL using the five-year rule. “Reseller information” means the date comes from a reseller and no confirmation from HPE is publicly available. In these cases, the EOSL is set at five years after the EOL.

Part numbers ending in -421 are the variants for the European market. In other regions HPE uses different endings, such as -001 for North and South America or -291 for Japan. HPE added the Smart Choice models ending in -005 to its range in December 2023.

HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 (AMD Opteron X3000)

HPE introduced the MicroServer Gen10 in June 2017. Inside the chassis sit AMD Opteron APUs of the X3000 series with integrated Radeon graphics. This model has no iLO management chip. The QuickSpecs list three standard models: Entry with the Opteron X3216, Performance with the X3418, and a Solution model with the X3421 that HPE offered together with the ClearOS operating system. HPE last revised the data sheet on 9 November 2020.

Manufacturer support ends on 2 November 2026. That is the EOSL date. Anyone still running a Gen10 with an AMD processor therefore has only a few weeks of support left from HPE. Hardwarewartung.com offers maintenance and support for these units until 2 November 2036.

HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus

With the Gen10 Plus, HPE switched to Intel in early 2020. The first version of the QuickSpecs appeared on 3 February 2020. The choice was between a two-core Pentium G5420 and a four-core Xeon E-2224. The chassis turned out considerably flatter, because HPE moved the power supply out into an external 180-watt adapter. iLO 5 is on board for the first time. Full remote access does, however, require the optional iLO Enablement Kit. The P18584-421 model corresponds to the Performance variant with an additional 1 TB hard disk.

HPE has not issued an official EOL date for the Gen10 Plus. It removed the first configurations from the QuickSpecs as obsolete as early as October and December 2021. For the Xeon model, the first quarter of 2025 is taken as the EOL. With the five years of manufacturer support, that gives an EOSL in early 2030.

HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus v2

September 2022 brought the Gen10 Plus v2; the first version of the QuickSpecs is dated 19 September 2022. HPE carried over the chassis and external power supply from its predecessor. New are the Pentium Gold G6405 and Xeon E-2314 processors, a PCIe 4.0 slot and up to 64 GB of DDR4 memory. The Smart Choice models were added in December 2023.

28 February 2025 is taken as the EOL. This fits with the fact that HPE last changed the model overview in the QuickSpecs on 3 February 2025. Counting from the EOL, manufacturer support is expected to end on 28 February 2030.

Successor: HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen11

The QuickSpecs for the MicroServer Gen11 appeared on 3 June 2024. The Gen11 runs Xeon processors of the E-2400 series, along with DDR5 memory and iLO 6. HPE continues to maintain the data sheet, most recently in August 2026. No EOL has been announced so far.

Continued operation of the ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 after the EOSL

For Gen10 servers with an AMD processor, HPE support runs out in November 2026; for the two Plus ranges, it is expected to run out in 2030. Check in the HPE Support Center, using the serial number, how much longer your Care Packs are valid. If a MicroServer is to keep running for longer, a third party maintenance contract can take over the spare parts supply and on-site service. The overview of the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 shows what this looks like for larger systems.
