Here you will find the EOL and EOSL dates for the HPE ProLiant DL360 from Generation 7 through Generation 12.
HPE does not publish a single, complete lifecycle table for the ProLiant range. The manufacturer works with two stages. Once a model reaches “Retired” status it drops off the price list; in the industry this point is known as end of life (EOL). Support then continues for roughly another five years. With end of service life (EOSL) it ends for good: no more firmware updates, no security patches, no repairs under CarePacks.
For the DL360 range, that arc now spans more than a decade and a half. Our overview covers every generation from the G7 onwards. For other HPE systems, please refer to our HPE end of life list.
We maintain HPE servers for at least seven years beyond the manufacturer’s cut-off; for the DL360 range we work on the basis of ten years from EOSL.
A note on the data: HPE rarely announces the end-of-sales date publicly. For the generations from Gen10 Plus onwards, neither EOL nor EOSL dates have been fixed so far.

HP ProLiant DL360 G7
The G7 came to market in spring 2010. It runs Intel Xeon processors of the 5500 and 5600 series, offers 18 DIMM slots for DDR3 and takes up to 384 GB of memory depending on configuration. The integrated Smart Array P410i protects its write cache with a flash module rather than a battery, which reduces the risk of data loss during a sudden power failure. iLO 3 was new at the time: remote management runs noticeably faster than with iLO 2 and paved the way for operating the rack without a monitor. The configuration details are in the QuickSpecs for the DL360 G7.
HPE never communicated an official end of sales for this generation; enquiries in the HPE Community produced no firm date. Working back from the end of manufacturer support in late April 2018 gives April 2013. Anyone still running a G7 today, usually as a backup target or in isolated edge environments, can only obtain DDR3 modules and Smart Array controllers through third party maintenance.

HP ProLiant DL360 Gen8 (DL360e and DL360p)
In 2012, HP split the range into two lines. The DL360e used Xeon E5-2400 processors and targeted price-conscious buyers, while the DL360p used E5-2600 v1 and v2 for compute-intensive work. Both variants share the same chassis but differ in mainboard and equipment.
Technically, the standout is iLO 4 with what HP called the Sea of Sensors, a network of temperature probes that regulates the fans more precisely. The SmartDrive carriers indicate drive status via LED rings so clearly that technicians are less likely to pull the wrong disk from a running RAID. The FlexibleLOM slot gives buyers the choice between 1GbE, 10GbE and Fibre Channel without occupying a regular PCIe slot. The details are set out in the QuickSpecs for the DL360p Gen8.
Manufacturer support for the HP ProLiant DL360 Gen8 ended in 2021: mid-August for the e variant, end of October for the p variant. HPE confirmed this in the community forum as well. Many of these servers ran, and still run, in hosting environments. With 24 DIMM slots and up to 768 GB of RAM they continue to carry classic server workloads, which is why switching to third party maintenance was, and still is, the obvious decision for most operators.

HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen9
The Gen9 appeared in autumn 2014, in the middle of HP’s transformation into Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). It brought Xeon E5-2600 v3 and v4 processors and moved from DDR3 to DDR4. Across 24 DIMM slots, LRDIMMs allow up to 3 TB of memory in a single rack unit, as the QuickSpecs for the DL360 Gen9 show.
More important in practice was the move into NVMe. With the Express Bay Enablement Kit, up to six drives connect directly to the PCIe bus and bypass the SAS controller. iLO 4 gained a RESTful API to the Redfish standard, allowing large fleets to be configured through scripts.
EOSL fell on 22 July 2025 and is therefore already in the past. Anyone still running Gen9 systems has been working without manufacturer support since then: firmware vulnerabilities in the iLO are no longer fixed, and spare parts come only from the secondary market or from a maintenance contract. For file services, domain controllers and classic web hosting, the performance of these machines is still sufficient, which is why a contract for third party maintenance for HPE ProLiant pays off in many cases.

HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10
From 2017, HPE strengthened the security side of the ProLiant range. The Silicon Root of Trust places a cryptographic fingerprint directly in the silicon of the iLO 5 chip. At startup, the server checks its firmware against this signature and refuses to boot if anything deviates. The intention was to counter UEFI and BIOS rootkits, which nest below the operating system and are very hard to remove from there.
Under the hood, first and second generation Xeon Scalable processors deliver up to 28 cores per socket. Of interest for databases is support for Intel Optane persistent memory: SAP HANA and similar in-memory systems can use it to hold large volumes of data in addressable memory with protection against failure.
Sales ended in early May 2024, as confirmed in the HPE Community. Manufacturer support therefore runs until the end of April 2029. For third party maintenance, this generation brings a requirement of its own: replacement mainboards and logic components have to pass the signature check, otherwise the system will not start after the swap.

HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 Plus
The Gen10 Plus closed the gap to the Gen11. It uses third generation Xeon Scalable processors (Ice Lake-SP) with up to 40 cores per socket and DDR4 up to 3200 MT/s. The real leap is on the bus: PCIe Gen4 doubles the bandwidth compared with Gen3, which benefits fast NVMe drives and network cards from 100GbE upwards. Intel SGX was added on dual-socket systems and shields memory regions from access even if the operating system or hypervisor is compromised. All the details are in the QuickSpecs for the DL360 Gen10 Plus.
HPE has not yet named an EOL date for the ProLiant DL360 Gen10, and enquiries in the community produced no specific date. Until the end of sales is confirmed, we work on the basis of seven to ten years of maintenance following EOL.

HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen11
With the Gen11, almost the entire platform changes. Fourth and fifth generation Xeon Scalable processors (Sapphire Rapids and Emerald Rapids), DDR5 up to 5600 MT/s, plus PCIe Gen5. Gen5 brings CXL into play, a protocol for cache-coherent connections between CPUs, accelerators and pooled memory. This allows resources to be decoupled at rack level instead of being fixed inside an individual server.
The change in drive format is striking. U.2 is increasingly giving way to EDSFF in the E3.S format, of which up to 20 fit across the front of the chassis. The format eases the thermal bottlenecks in the 1U chassis and maintains the signal quality that PCIe Gen5 requires. The details are in the QuickSpecs for the DL360 Gen11.
These servers are part of the current portfolio, and no end of support is on the horizon. Once HPE stops selling them, the familiar rhythm applies: five years of manufacturer support, then seven to ten years of third party maintenance. For maintenance providers, the new architecture means reorganised spare parts logistics, because classic SFF carriers and backplanes are being replaced by E3.S cages.

HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen12
The Gen12 builds on Intel Xeon 6 and, for the first time, brings two core types into the same server family. Efficient cores (Sierra Forest) deliver up to 144 cores per socket for dense, cloud-native workloads, while performance cores (Granite Rapids) target compute-intensive tasks and AI inference. Buyers choose one of the two directions when ordering.
This performance density in a single rack unit calls for new cooling concepts. HPE ships selected CPU variants from the factory with a closed liquid cooling loop, which changes airflow and service work inside the chassis. Added to that are up to 8 TB of memory, tri-mode cages to the U.3 standard and iLO 7 with cloud connectivity. The QuickSpecs for the DL360 Gen12 list the configurations in detail.
The series is at the start of its lifecycle; the first ENERGY STAR entries date from 2025 and 2026. An EOL date is not foreseeable for years to come. The closed cooling loops will make future maintenance contracts technically more demanding, because service technicians need dedicated tools and procedures for them.

What the dates mean for your planning
Two generations are currently in focus. The Gen9 passed its EOSL in July 2025 and now runs without manufacturer support. The Gen10 keeps it until the end of April 2029, after which the same situation applies. In both cases, the replacement date rarely hinges on compute performance. What matters is whether spare parts remain available and whether a technician can be on site in time.
For file servers, domain controllers or web hosting, a Gen9 or Gen10 will hold up for years yet. Anyone wanting to keep such systems running needs a contract that covers spare parts and on-site response. With us, guaranteed repair is within four hours, and contracts run for up to ten years beyond EOSL. On price they come in below HPE’s post-warranty CarePacks, in practice often at half the cost. You will find the details under server maintenance.
Here is the most recently updated end of life hardware list for HP. As always, we offer our maintenance for at least 7 years beyond the end of life date. In reality, we can often provide maintenance well beyond those 7 years. If you need an HP maintenance contract for end of life hardware or for current hardware, simply contact us via our contact form.
