Dell VxRail: EOL, End-of-Sale and EOSL for All Generations
Here you’ll find the EOL, End of Sale and EOSL dates for all generations of Dell VxRail.
Dell VxRail bundles compute, storage and virtualization in a single node that ships from the factory running VMware vSphere and vSAN. Under the hood, every generation is built on a PowerEdge server. The first series from 2016 still used a Quanta chassis; from December 2016 onward, nodes were based on the 13th PowerEdge generation, followed every two years by 14G, 15G, 16G, and since 2025 the 17G platform. Dell lists which model is based on which PowerEdge in the knowledge base article VxRail: Models to Dell PowerEdge Models.
Important for planning: hardware and software age separately. An E560 node remains under Dell support until 2027, while the VxRail 7.0 software running on it already lost support in September 2025. The tables below keep these two levels separate.

Dell VxRail EOL and EOSL Dates at a Glance
Dell stages the lifecycle into End of Sales Life, End of Standard Support, End of Security Support, and finally End of Service Life. In the public lists — the master document for all Dell EMC EOL data — the end of sale appears as “End of Life,” and the end of support as EOSL. That’s exactly how the columns are labeled. The dates are taken from Dell’s own tables and, where not otherwise available, from various sources on the web.
First Generation (2016, Quanta Platform)
The initial series launched as the successor to VSPEX Blue on a Quanta chassis and was on sale for only one year. Support ended for all variants on the same day.

16th Generation (PowerEdge R660, R760, R7625, XR4000)
With 16G, the naming logic changed: VE stands for the combination of VDI and general-purpose use, VP for VDI and performance. The VD series, based on the XR4000, targets edge locations and consists of a chassis, compute sleds and a witness node. Dell has not yet published end-of-sale or end-of-support dates for this series.

17th Generation (PowerEdge R670, R770)
The current VE-670 and VP-770 nodes run exclusively as vSAN ESA clusters and are approved for new deployments from VxRail 9.1 onward. Which nodes you’re allowed to add to an existing cluster is governed by the Node Addition Matrix in the VxRail upgrade information.

VxRail Software: End of Support Dates
The software follows its own schedule. Support for 4.5 and 4.7 ended on 30 September 2022, as documented in the Upgrade Preparation Guide. For version 7.0, Dell set the date at 30 September 2025 and has only provided Best Effort Support since then.
| Version | End of Support (Code Currency) | Status |
| 4.5 / 4.7 | 30.09.2022 | discontinued |
| 7.0 | 30.09.2025 | discontinued, Upgrade to 8.0 recommended |
| 8.0 | not discontinued yet | active |
| 9.x | not discontinued yet | current version, since June 2026 with VCF 9.1 |
Table: EOL and EOSL dates for Dell VxRail software
Which version is permitted to run on your hardware is specified in the Interoperability Matrix for VxRail and vCenter Server. Dell lists the respective required minimum versions under Target Revisions and Runtime. Separately, the Secure Remote Services (SRS) for VxRail were deprecated as of 15 June 2023. Anyone still running remote connectivity via SRS should switch to Secure Connect Gateway.

FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions About VxRail EOL
What’s the difference between End of Sale, EOL and EOSL?
End of Sale is the last day the product can be ordered. Dell lists this date as “End of Life” and publishes it alongside the EOSL date, when manufacturer support ends. For VxRail, there are usually four to five years between the two. During this period, you continue to receive firmware, spare parts and incident handling from Dell.
What happens to my cluster after EOSL?
Technically, it keeps running. However, Dell no longer accepts incident reports, no longer supplies spare parts, and no longer publishes firmware updates. From this point on, you need either new nodes or a maintenance contract with a third-party provider.

Which VxRail models are reaching end of life next?
The entire 14th generation — namely E560, P570, S570, V570, G560, D560 and P580N — loses Dell support on 30 September 2027. Nodes with Cascade Lake CPUs run until 30 April 2028. So anyone running 14G today has a good year’s lead time to plan migration or follow-on maintenance.
Is hardware support tied to software support?
Both dates run independently of each other. VxRail 7.0 has been out of Code Currency Support since 30 September 2025, even though many 14G and 15G nodes remain under hardware support until 2027 and 2030 respectively. Conversely, an up-to-date software version won’t help if spare parts are no longer available for the node.
How long can I still get spare parts after EOL?
Dell keeps parts in stock until the EOSL date. After that, third-party providers with their own inventory take over. Hardwarewartung.com typically maintains Dell and Dell EMC systems for seven to ten years after EOL, and often longer. We’ve compiled which components are becoming scarce for older platforms in our article on server spare parts availability in 2026.
Can I still expand a discontinued cluster?
Yes, as long as suitable nodes are available on the market and the Node Addition Matrix approves the combination. You’re allowed to mix generations within a single software version: under VxRail 9.x, 15G, 16G and 17G nodes run together, and under 8.0, 14G nodes with Cascade Lake CPUs can be added as well.
