Cisco Catalyst 3650 EOL and EOSL

The Cisco Catalyst 3650 series is approaching the end of its support lifecycle. For network administrators, it’s important to know the exact deadlines.

Below you’ll find a detailed list of the models. Important note: while the standard models go out of support in 2026, the deadline for the “Mini” series has been extended to 2028.

Cisco Catalyst 3650 24-Port Data

This model is the entry point into the series for environments that don’t require Power over Ethernet (PoE). It’s typically used for desktop clients or in server rooms for management connections. Available with 4x 1G (TS) or 2x 10G (TD) uplinks.

Cisco Catalyst 3650 48-Port Data

The 48-port version is designed for high port density without PoE requirements. It’s ideal for large offices or training rooms. As with the 24-port version, there are variants with 1G or 10G uplinks.

Cisco Catalyst 3650 24-Port PoE+

These switches are the backbone for VoIP telephony and wireless networks in smaller distribution closets. They support PoE+ (802.3at) on all ports.

Cisco Catalyst 3650 48-Port PoE+

The standard for the enterprise access layer. This model supplies a large number of end devices, such as IP cameras and phones, with both power and data. Here too, 31 October 2026 is the critical deadline for replacement.

Cisco Catalyst 3650 Multigigabit (mGig)

These specialized switches support speeds of 1G, 2.5G, 5G and 10G over copper cabling to connect modern Wi-Fi 6 access points. Despite their advanced technology, they share the same EOSL date as the standard series.

Cisco Catalyst 3650 Mini Series

The “Mini” series is characterized by a shallower depth (approx. 30 cm) and was developed for shallow racks in retail or hospitality settings. Notable feature: because these models were introduced later, they benefit from an extended support period until May 2028.

About the Cisco 3650 Series

The Cisco Catalyst 3650 series is a milestone in networking technology because it was the first to integrate wireless controller functionality directly into the access switch (thanks to the UADP ASIC). It offers full convergence between wired and wireless networks on a single platform. With support (EOSL) ending in 2026 (or 2028 for the Mini series), switching to the successor series, Cisco Catalyst 9300, is recommended to ensure modern security standards and programmability.
