Dell is currently experiencing a sharp increase in demand for servers, driven particularly by the growing needs in the field of AI.
Late last year, Dell introduced new AI servers equipped with Nvidia chips. The servers are available with various cooling systems, both air- and liquid-cooled, and can be configured with a large number of Nvidia Blackwell Ultra chips: up to 192 by default and customizable up to 256 chips. Dell emphasizes that these new models can train AI models up to four times faster than their predecessors. Among the popular products is the Dell PowerEdge XE9680L. In the future, Dell also plans to support Nvidia Vera CPUs and Vera Rubin chips, which will succeed the Blackwell series. Additionally, a ‘Pro Max Plus’ laptop for AI development has been introduced, allowing developers to process large AI models locally on the device without relying on cloud services.

The impact of this demand is clearly reflected in Dell’s financial figures. In the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, the Infrastructure Solutions Group, which includes servers, storage, and software, saw a 12 percent year-over-year revenue increase to $10.31 billion. Orders for AI servers reached $12.1 billion in this quarter, surpassing the total shipments for the entire fiscal year 2025. In the first quarter, AI servers worth $1.8 billion were already shipped. In light of these developments, Dell has raised its annual profit forecast. Despite this strong performance, Dell, like competitors such as Super Micro Computer and HPE, also faces challenges. The manufacturing costs for these highly advanced systems are high, and intense competition puts pressure on profit margins. Dell plans to secure profitability through increased sales of networking and storage products.
